Visita al Pueblo de Salcaja

Hoy visitaremos el pueblo indígena Salcajá, ubicado unos 6 km de Xela. Aquí podemos ver la primera iglesia católica de Centro América, fundada por los españoles en 1524. También, veremos como sabe el famoso "caldo de frutas" que es una bebida propia del lugar de aproximadamente 18 a 24 grados de alcohol, y podemos ver la importancia del textil jaspeado corte tradicional de la mujer en algunos lugares de Guatemala que es producto de Salcajá.

Visit to Salcajá

Today, we will visit the indigenous village of Salcajá, located about 6 km from Xela. Here, we can see the first catholic church founded by the Spanish in Central America, in 1524. Also, we will see how the famous "caldo de frutas" tastes, and we can see how important textile is in Salcajá.

Para esta tarde aquí en Celas Maya nuestra actividad tiene como objetivo aprender un poco sobre los pasos básicos de los distintos tipos de bailes latinos (Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, Punta entre otros) la actividad es totalmente gratis a todos los estudiantes, todos están invitados para aprender los pasos básicos, traer agua pura
 

Latín Dance

This afternoon Celas Maya offers a new activity - A lesson in basic latin dance. You will be able to learn some basic dance moves and learn to distinguish between the different rythms of different Latino dances, such as Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, Punta. The activity is free for all students. YOU ARE ALL INVITED!

Las Cumbres

Eco Sauna Las Cumbres, es un hotel que pertenece a la red de Posadas Rurales de Centro Amércia. Originalmente fue construido para la producción de champiñones y hongos. Para tal fin se utilizaba los vapores que vienen del sistema geotérmico de Zunil, ya que esta área posee varios volcanes. Dicha fuente de energía no se utilizaba todo el año, y por esta razón se pensó en construir saunas para aprovechar las propiedades benéficas de las aguas termales y sulfúricas. Un hotel construido con detalles arquitectónicos que marcan la ecología local así como artefactos y textiles tradicionales del área
 

Las Cumbres

Eco Sauna Las Cumbres is a hotel that belongs to the network of Rural Posessions of Central America. Originally it was constructed for the mushroom production. For that goal, steam is used that comes from the geothermic system of Zunil, because this area has several volcanoes. This source of energy was not used all year round, so they thought on constructing saunas to take advantage the beneficial possessions of the thermal and sulfur waters. A hotel constructed with architectural details that show the local ecology, as well as artifacts and traditional textiles of the area.

Hoy ofrecemos clases en la preparación y placer de platillos tradicionales de la rica cultura guatemalteca. Hoy aprenderemos como hacer un plato típico del triangulo Ixil, en centro-Guatemala: Boxboles.

Today we offer classes in the preparation and enjoyment of traditional dishes of Guatemala's rich culture. We will learn how to make a typical dish from the Ixil area (central Guatemala): Boxboles.

Fiesta de graduación ALMUERZO Cocido de Res/ Vegetarianos.

Para esta actividad tenemos un almuerzo aquí en la escuela donde todos los estudiantes necesitan comprar las verduras y la carne por la mañana del dia viernes con su maestro (a) al mercado y uno de los objetivos es aprender a comprar y practicar su español.
 

Graduation party, Lunch; typical Guatemalan Soup (meat and vegetarian)

For this activity we will have a lunch at the school. Every student will buy vegetables and meat at the market with his or her teacher on Friday morning. One of the objectives is to learn how to buy things and to practice your Spanish.

WHAT TO BRING / WEAR:

Visita a Salcaja: Q20 para bus, camara, chaqueta de lluvia.

Bailes Latinos en Celas Maya: Todos invitados para la actividad

Película: Traer boquitas

Las Cumbres: Q.60 o mas, traje de baño, toalla, agua pura.

Clases de Cocina: Todos invitados a aprender a cocinar aquí en la escuela.

Graduacion: Tienes que traer dinero para la graduación y sales a comprar con tu maestro (a) por la mañana y cocinamos antes de las 12:00 pm
