Bildungsurlaub Spanisch
in Quetzaltenango (Xela), Guatemala

Bildungsurlaub in Quetzaltenango (Xela), Guatemala

Warum Quetzaltenango statt Antigua?

As a solo female traveler with little prior experience speaking Spanish, I now have a solid grasp on the language. The staff is very welcoming, Xela is a safe city to be in, and the school has a diverse group of students participating. The classes are one on one, and tailor to the students preferred topics and needs. The school offers structured activities throughout the week to experience the culture of Xela, and I strongly recommend this school if you want to learn Spanish through structured standards and make great experiences!

This school is amazing. They offer: 1:1 classes (this is how they operate, which is incredible) Daily activities every day of the week. These are a great way increase our exposure to Spanish. Some are free and some cost very little. They range from outdoor activities, to cultural learning, to weekend trips. They change every week and month, which is great because many students stay for months They also offer local homestays (great experience!) Students can also take classes that focus on medical or business Spanish. I am grateful for the extra time working on business vocabulary. Additionally the staff is very warm, welcoming, and sincerely kind. The owner makes us all hot chocolates or coffees to order every morning! It is a great way to interact with other students since our classes are 1:1 I highly recommend this school to learn Spanish!

I enjoyed studying for the DELE B1 with Miriam. Taking the test was interesting, and I learned a lot about assessment, which I appreciate since I am in charge of assessments in my job as a teacher of English as a Second Language at Arizona State University in the U.S.A. The administration team resolved my questions efficiently. I'm glad to learn about Celas Maya. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I spent 6 weeks at Celas Maya and can say it was everything I had both wanted and hoped for prior to arriving. The teaching and lesson style is structured yet welcoming and fun with clear aims throughout the week. Each teacher I had experience with, Wendy and Byron, have years of experience and can easily judge your level and plan accordingly as well as introducing new grammar through topics and conversations or interest. Additionally, the homestay with Monica and her family was perfect for immersion, a warm home and inviting family who have years of experience with students provides an environment to only speak Spanish and not drop back into English which is so important for progressing. All other staff members from the administration, the other teachers and cleaning staff create an environment for learning and will do anything to help you along the way. My time in Xela and at Celas Maya has probably been the highlight of my trip through Central America thus far and I would love to revisit one day and spend more time day. If you want to genuinely improve your Spanish I can’t see a better place than this.

Celas Maya was better than anything I expected. The 1:1 lessons were fantastic - it felt like a conversation with a little bit of grammar practice involved, and it was so fun and interesting that I never noticed the time passing. I worked with Tanía and I learned so much from and with her throughout the week. All of the teachers and fellow students at the school were fantastic and created a truly welcoming, family-like atmosphere. The afternoon outings were the cherry on top, shoutout to Joel for organizing all of those. I can't wait to come back. No puedo esperar a volver!

My two weeks studying Spanish at Celas Maya were truly magical. Not only did I improve my Spanish skills and gain confidence in communicating , but I also learned so much about Guatemalan life and culture. The teachers at the school are all so professional and friendly. My home stay family was warm and inviting, and the home-cooked meals were delicious. The school also planned fun outings and outdoor activities through out the week. I can't speak highly enough about my experience at Celas Maya. Definitely 5 out of 5 stars!

Celas Maya was an amazing experience. My one on one Spanish classes with Tania were so helpful to start cleaning up my Spanish. She was so patient with me and targeted my exact individual language needs. I hope to contact them in the near future to continue my learning with online classes. The tour we went on to the natural hot springs was so amazing as well. It was fun to see the natural landscape around the beautiful pools. Thanks for the incredible experiences, memories, and learning.

Celas Mayas is a great opportunity when in Guatemala! It was really easy connecting with teachers and other students throughout the time spent at the language school, as there were many activities to participate in and friendly faculty for support. The Spanish immersion and homestay visits were especially benefiting for individuals learning the language. I had such a wonderful experience and hope to go back for more Spanish lessons!

The Celas Maya approach is excellent for developing conversational skills. I started a number of years ago with intensive one on one in person classes for a week in Xela. When I returned home, I started online classes on a weekly basis. I can now converse with native Spanish speakers in the States and in Latin America. My weekly conversations with my maestro allow me to develop vocabulary and grammar using topics of interest to me. After a few years of Celas Maya training, I have come to think of my maestro not so much as a teacher, but as mi amigo. Personalized training that is relevant to my needs immediate and into the future.

Brauche ich Vorkenntnisse in Spanisch?

Nein.
