Our Medical Spanish program in Xela (Quetzaltenango), Guatemala goes far beyond the classroom. From day one, students are supported by a licensed medical supervisor who guides their language development in direct alignment with real clinical needs. Every internship placement follows a structured, three-stage evaluation process — an initial interview to assess readiness, a mid-program review to ensure progress, and a final assessment with both the student and the host health center. This rigorous framework ensures the experience is meaningful, ethical, and genuinely beneficial for everyone involved — especially the patients.

Xela’s authentic medical community, far removed from Guatemala’s tourist circuits, offers an immersion that Antigua simply cannot replicate. Here, students don’t just learn Medical Spanish — they live it, practicing alongside dedicated Guatemalan healthcare professionals in real clinical settings. Upon completion, the program is eligible for university credits, making it not only a transformative personal experience but a recognized academic achievement.
