A structured spanish immersion program in Guatemala
Celas Maya offers a Spanish immersion program in Guatemala designed for serious learners seeking measurable academic progress and real-world fluency. Based in Quetzaltenango (Xela), our one-to-one Spanish classes combine structured CEFR-aligned instruction with full cultural immersion.
This is not a casual language stay — it is a structured academic Spanish immersion program with measurable outcomes.
Academic standards & institutional framework
Our Spanish immersion program in Guatemala follows internationally recognized academic standards and aligns with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Students progress through structured levels (A1–C2) with measurable learning outcomes and continuous evaluation.
Students advance through clearly defined academic benchmarks in speaking, writing, listening, and academic interaction.
Continuous assessment, academic benchmarks, and institutional accreditation guarantee measurable outcomes — not informal exposure.
Our six-level academic structure
Our academic immersion program follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), structured into six clearly defined progression levels from A1 to C2.
Each level builds on measurable competencies in speaking, writing, listening, and academic interaction.
A1 – Beginner: Foundational communication and survival Spanish
A2 – Elementary: Functional daily interaction and structured grammar
B1 – Intermediate: Independent communication in academic and social contexts
B2 – Upper-Intermediate: Advanced fluency with structured argumentation
C1 – Advanced: Academic discourse and formal presentation skills
C2 – Mastery: Near-native proficiency and linguistic precision

Measurable Academic Learning Outcomes
Our Academic Spanish Immersion program is designed to produce clearly measurable results in linguistic competence and academic performance.
By the end of each level, students are able to:
• Demonstrate CEFR-aligned proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing
• Participate confidently in academic discussions and formal presentations
• Produce structured analytical writing with grammatical accuracy
• Interpret authentic academic texts and cultural materials
• Apply Spanish in professional, research, or university-level environments
Continuous formative and summative assessment ensures structured advancement and documented academic progress.

Transferable University Credits
Through our official academic partnership with Westminster University (USA), eligible university-level students may earn transferable university credits while participating in our Academic Spanish Immersion program in Guatemala.
Courses completed at Celas Maya (CEFR levels A1–C2 and specialized tracks such as Medical Spanish or Cultural Studies) can be recorded on an official Westminster University transcript under the School of Record model.
This structure allows students to make measurable academic progress while studying Spanish abroad in an authentic, fully immersive environment.
